Well, despite of all the fun and joy, the falling day leaves us all with unattractive and ugly suntan on face and hands that takes away all the fun from the outings. Although you might be using sunscreens and other protective measures to safeguard your skin from sun’s harmful rays, these rays make their way to sabotage your skin.

DIY Scrubs to get rid of Suntan

Here is a list of top homemade scrubs to get rid of tan easily, effectively, and quickly.

Rose Water, Cucumber, and Lemon Juice Scrub

This is one of the most effective homemade remedy to get rid of suntan. This remedy uses the tan removal goodness of lemon and cucumber – two of the perfect natural bleaching agents. Lemon juice is packed with citric acid and vitamin C, both of which help to lighten the skin tone. Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant and neutralizes the damage resulting from free radicals. It also helps to lighten suntan, dark spots, and age spots.

On the other hand, the cucumber juice and rose water work as cooling agents to soothe the blemished skin. Grate a cucumber and add some lemon juice and rose water to it. Apply this mixture on affected areas using a cotton ball. Let it dry slightly. Massage in gentle circular motions to scrub the tanned areas. Again wait for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.

You can use this remedy daily after you get back from the sun.

Buttermilk and Oat meal Scrub

Oatmeal is known for its weight loss benefits. However, it is also considered as an excellent exfoliate for skin as well. Buttermilk helps to soothe and moisturize the skin. Also, it heals blisters and oatmeal works as a natural scrub to exfoliate the skin while simultaneously removing dead skin cells and blackheads.

To apply, mix 2 tbsp of oatmeal with 3 tablespoons of buttermilk and apply on affected areas of face and body. Use your fingers to massage gently onto the skin in circular motions. Allow it to work for 15-20 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

Gram Flour and Turmeric Scrub

This homemade scrub is a double treat for the tanned skin as it provides dual benefits of bleaching and scrubbing. The wonder ingredient, turmeric, more commonly referred as the Holy powder, is not only amazing for the excellent medicinal properties but also known for its amazingly wonderful effects on the skin. Turmeric provides a healthy glow to the skin while helping to reduce tan and pigmentation. Bengal gram, on the other hand, plays the role of a natural scrub for skin exfoliation and removal of dead skin cells.

Mix together 2 tablespoons of besan, 1 tablespoon of milk and a pinch of turmeric along with a tablespoon of crushed orange peel and cold rose water. Apply this mixture on clean face and allow it to dry for 15-20 minutes. Moist the dried areas by sprinkling little water on it. Now slowly massage the pack to gently scrub the facial skin in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction. You can use this DIY scrub every alternate day to get rid of suntan.

Almonds and Honey Scrub

Almonds form a crunchy delight to make amazing morning smoothies. However, almonds also work wonders for skin. The high content of vitamin E is the ruling ingredient. Besides, almonds are also natural bleaching agents and therefore, help to get rid of suntan quite fast.

Grind 5-6 almonds with rose water to prepare a coarse paste. Add some lemon juice to this paste and mix well. Apply this paste on suntanned areas and scrub gently for a few minutes. Let it dry naturally and then rinse off with cold water.

Sugar and Lemon Juice Scrub

Mix sugar and lime juice to prepare a thick paste and use it as a scrub. Now, apply this scrub over the affected areas and massage gently for two minutes and allow it to dry for 15-20 minutes. Then, wash it off with cold water. Sugar is an amazing cleansing agent and suitable for all skin types.

Lemon Juice, Honey, Milk Powder, and Almond/Olive Oil Scrub

Take lemon juice, milk powder, honey, and olive or almond oil in equal quantities. Mix all these ingredients properly to prepare your scrub. Now, apply this scrub on tanned areas, like arms, face, and on the whole body as well. Allow it to dry for about 15 minutes and then massage in gentle circular motions to scrub off the dead skin cells. You can use this scrub two times a day to get faster results.
