Acne is one of the most common skin conditions affecting teens and young adults with appearance of bumps on skin, more specifically on face and neck, especially nose and chin. Formation of whiteheads is accrued to secretion of excessive oil by sebaceous gland, to block the skin pores. This excessive oil gets trapped in the pores thus causing formation of whiteheads, on combining with some airborne bacteria, in the form of small white spots.

Basically, whiteheads are the meek type of acne. It is not difficult to treat whiteheads unlike blackheads which are stubborn and difficult to get rid of. These white bumps, developing beneath the skin, are also called closed comedones, and usually occur on oily skin.

Try out these simple home remedies to get rid of whiteheads easily and quickly.

Milk

Mix together two tablespoons milk with a tablespoon of lemon juice and salt. After you have mixed the ingredients well, apply it onto the affected areas. Massage well in gentle circular motions. Follow with a cold rinse and then pat dry with a softy towel.

Another application technique is by using it in combination regular salt. Simply mix one tablespoon of normal salt with five tablespoons of milk. Massage the solution gently onto the affected areas. Let it dry naturally for 15-20 minutes. Follow with a cold rinse. You can repeat the application twice a day to kick off whiteheads easily.

Oatmeal Scrub

Scrubbing is an amazing remedy to open up clogged pores on skin. You can always try on various effective over the counter facial scrubs. However, commercial scrubs can never match the results provided by a homemade scrub.

You can prepare your own homemade scrub with oatmeal, sugar, and honey. To prepare, mix together ¼ cup of oatmeal with equal quantities of honey and brown sugar. This will give you a paste with thick consistency. Apply it in small quantities over the affected areas. Gently massage it in circular motions for 7-10 minutes. Follow with a tepid rinse and then apply a generous moisturizer.

Rosewater

Take a couple of tablespoons of rosewater in a bowl. Apply it all over the affected areas using a cotton swab. Let it dry naturally and do not rinse off. Alternatively, you can pour some rose water in a spray bottle and store in refrigerator. Just spray some rose water onto the affected skin areas. For better results you can also add rosewater to your face packs and enhance their effects on whiteheads.

Egg and Honey Face Pack

Egg whites are highly beneficial to the skin. It makes the skin firmer. Honey, on the other hand, acts as an effective moisturizer. To apply, take out one egg white and add ½ teaspoon of almond oil and one tablespoon each of warm honey and yogurt to it. Mix the ingredients well using a fork. Apply this prepared mask in a thin layer onto the face. Let it dry naturally for 30 minutes. Follow with a tepid rinse.

Tomatoes

Tomato to remove whiteheads on nose naturally

Tomatoes contain rich amount of vitamin C that works wonders for dull skin. Besides, it is the simplest of remedies to apply at home to remove whiteheads. Simply rub fresh tomato pulp onto the affected skin areas and let dry naturally. this would take about five minutes. Follow with a cold rinse. Repeat the remedy two to three times a week to get desired results.

Sugar Scrub

A sugar scrub prepared at home works really well to treat whiteheads. It works by exfoliating the skin to remove surplus oil long with built up dirt and debris from the skin. This way, it opens up the clogged skin pores thus reducing whiteheads, without making the skin dry.

To prepare a sugar scrub at home, mix equal quantities of sugar and honey. Add 5-7 drops of fresh lemon juice to this mixture. Use this mixture to gently massage the skin with fingertips in circular motions. Let it work for 10-15 minutes. Follow with a cold rinse. While sugar exfoliates the skin well, lemon extract any excessive oil from the skin, and honey works to moisturize the skin well. Follow this remedy at least three times a week to achieve desired results.

Additional Tips

Besides the aforesaid home remedies to combat whiteheads, there are also certain preventive measures that are necessary to keep infection at bay. Most importantly, make sure to drink sufficient water through the day to flush out infections and keep the skin healthy. Encourage use of oil free makeup. Wash your face at least two to three times a day to keep it clean and free form bacteria. Above all, follow a healthy diet routine that includes fresh fruits and green veggies that contain rich amount of vitamin A and E.

In addition to these measures, it is also important to keep oily and spicy food at bay along with coffee, alcohol, chocolates, and carbonated drinks. Also avoid unnecessary exposure to sun. and, never try to pop out whiteheads with fingers or hands as this can transform the whiteheads into pimples.
