  1. Determine your Skin type

Determining your skin type is the first step in fulfilling your dream.  Skin may be oily, dry or a combination of oil and dry. You can test your skin type by simply washing your face and leaving it untouched for about an hour. Then check the area between your nose and cheeks and see if it is too dry, too oily, normal (i.e. no flaking and no oil) or a combination (oily and dry). Based on the observation you can determine your skin type. Now you can start following the tips for the skin type accordingly.

Skin Care Products

You need to select skin care products based on your skin type. There are several types of skin care products available in the market for all skin types. The basic skin care products are facial scrub, cleanser, moisturiser and toner suitable for your skin type. If you have acne problem, visit a dermatologist and use medicated products prescribed.

Scrub:  Skin looks dull as dead skin is accumulated on top of your skin layer every day.  Adding to the problem, dirt and pollution also make the problem worse. So it is crucial to scrub your face twice every week.

Cleanser:  Use gentle face wash to remove dirt from your face. You need to wash your face twice a day- morning and night.

Moisturiser:  Moisturising skin is very important for attaining a glowing skin. Moisturising keeps skin healthy and lively. Choose a moisturiser suitable for your skin type and moisturise your skin every morning and night.

Toner:  The purpose of toner is to nourish skin after removing make up and cleansing. Toners are loaded with antioxidants, soothing agents and hydrating ingredients. Skin Toner is needed for a fresh, smooth and hydrated skin.

Sunscreen:  you cannot skip using sunscreen if you want a healthy skin. Whenever you are stepping out always wear sunscreen irrespective of the weather. Sunscreen cannot avoid tanning completely but it reduces the damage caused to the skin by the UV rays.

Healthy Diet

For the skin to look healthy and glowing, a balanced diet is crucial. All the dermatologists refer it. As what you eat is reflected on your body, you need to make sure that your diet consists of all the necessary nutrients. Natural skin care remedies are best for the body. Even though there are a huge number of skin care products, they do not cure the root of your problem. So make sure that you eat a lot of fruits and vegetables so that your body is provided with the required supplements.

Stay Hydrated

Skin looks dull and lifeless if it is dehydrated. So staying hydrated all the time is very beneficial to your skin. Harmful toxins are flushed out of your body if you drink enough water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep your skin refreshed, moisturised and glowing naturally.

If your skin is lacking the amount of water it requires, your skin will become dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin has less resilience and can result in wrinkles. So staying hydrated not only makes skin look healthy, radiant and young looking, it also prevents wrinkles.

Exercise

One of the common causes for acne is stress. In our current lifestyle, stress has become an integral part of life. So it is important to relieve stress. Exercise is one of the greatest stress busters available. It helps in increased blood circulation which in turn makes the skin glow. Exercise also releases endorphins which boost the mood and reduces stress.

Sleep

Poor sleep can lead to increased stress hormone- cortisol production in the body, which leads to the damaged skin quality. So a good night’s sleep is very important if you want to maintain a healthy and glowing skin.

While you are sleeping, your body repairs itself including skin. So ensure that you are giving your body enough time to repair the damage. It is compulsory for you to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep for you to maintain a healthy skin.

If you get enough rest there are plenty of benefits such as fewer wrinkles, glowing complexion, less puffy eyes, healthier and fuller hair, healthy skin. Skin loses more water when you sleep than it does when you are awake. So apply a moisturiser before bed and drink plenty of water to help your skin stay hydrated overnight.

A recent study of Society of Dermatology Skincare Specialists (SDSS) shows that 88% women don’t know the right products for their skin type which is not surprising considering the number of options available in the market. So make sure the products you choose are suitable for your skin and not cause further damage.
