Get Rid of Split Ends at Home with these Simple Ingredients

The choice of hair care influences the texture of your hair to great extent. Improper hair care, such as skipping basic steps of hair care – oiling, cleansing, and trimming, can damage your precious hair locks and cause split ends and hair loss, in extreme cases. Well, getting rid of split ends is no more a difficult task. You can do away with them easily at home with simple ingredients around you.

Honey

One of the major causes of split ends is lack of moisture and nutrients in the hair follicles and the scalp as well. According to hair experts, applying a thin layer of honey moisturizes the hair follicles immensely. This natural moisturizer does its work without affecting the pH level of the hair follicles.

To achieve the best possible results, it is recommended to use lukewarm honey and leave it to work for about half an hour. Remember, honey should be applied on scalp, hair and split ends. Rinse off with cold water. Repeat the remedy at weekly intervals to achieve desired results.

Avocado

Avocado has excellent deep conditioning properties. These properties along with the high nutritional value help to make hair locks lustrous. Avocado contains rich amount of protein, fatty acids, magnesium, along with vitamin A, B, and E to nourish the hair and fuel hair growth as well.

To apply, take a ripe avocado and mash it in a bowl. Add equal quantities of olive oil and coconut oil. Mix well and prepare a thick creamy and consistent paste. Apply the prepared hair mask generously onto the hair, especially the tail area. You don’t need to apply it on the roots. Let the p=mask work for 25-30 minutes. Follow the application with a cold rinse and normal shampooing.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a wonderful moisturizer that helps treatment of damaged and dry hair. In addition, it also stimulates hair growth by preventing hair loss.

To use, massage freshly extracted Aloe Vera gel obtained from a couple of aloe leaves. The quantity of gel extracted depends upon the length and volume of the hair. Apply the gel vertically on the length of hair locks. Leave it to work for half an hour and then wash off with cold water. You can also add to it a few drops of lime juice along with a couple of teaspoons of olive oil or jojoba oil to enhance the benefits.

Eggs

Eggs make a high protein source and thus one of the healthiest ways to do away with split ends. The yolk portion, more specifically, provides excellent nutrition to under-nourished scalp and damaged hair follicles. The high amount of biotin contained by egg yolks helps to repair the damaged follicles quickly and effectively.

You can also use it in shampoo form, if combined with other ingredients like olive oil, lime, and honey. Apply the prepared paste onto damp hair. Let it work for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

Shea Butter

Shea butter is loaded with high amount of fatty acids. Besides, it is also a rich source of vitamin A and E, both being stimulators of hair growth. This moist butter works by retaining the moisture into the hair follicles and further helping with treatment of split ends. You need just a little quantity of Shea butter to moisturize the hair thoroughly.

Take some Shea butter, depending upon the length of your hair, and rub it onto the lengths of the hair locks. Allow it to sit for half an hour and then rinse off.

Bananas  

Bananas make a rich source of natural oils, potassium, and zinc, along with vitamins A, C, and E. In addition, it helps to retain the natural elasticity of the hair and minimize the breakage as well. In addition, the nutrients contained in bananas make the hair locks softer by repairing hair with split ends and improving manageability.

To use a banana for split ends, take one ripe banana and mash it with a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt, fresh lime juice extracted from half a lemon, and a few drops of rose water. Apply the prepared hair mask on the damaged hair locks. Let it stay for an hour or so and then rinse off with cold water followed by normal shampooing. Repeat this remedy at least two times a week to do away with the problem.

Above all, make sure to follow a proper hair care regime by adopting some preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of split ends. A few good ones are to avoid excessive rubbing of hair with a towel to dry it after shampoo, lesser use of heat styling products, straightening, and blow drying. Most importantly, make sure to eat healthy and protein rich diet to achieve healthy hair.
